Yes — safe in moderation
Yes — celery is a crunchy, very low-calorie treat that’s safe for dogs and even freshens breath. Chop it small to avoid choking.
Celery is mostly water and fibre with almost no calories, plus some vitamins K, A and C. That makes it a great diet-friendly snack, and its crunch can help scrub teeth a little and freshen doggy breath. There is nothing toxic in it. The only practical points are to cut it into bite-sized pieces, since the stringy stalks can be a choking hazard for small or enthusiastic dogs, and to introduce it gradually as the fibre can loosen stools if overdone.
A few small chopped pieces make a healthy daily treat for most dogs, scaled to size. As with all extras, keep it within the 10% treat allowance. Fresh, raw and plain is ideal.
Mix with cucumber, carrots and green beans for a crunchy diet snack box.
