Yes — safe in moderation
Yes — fresh raspberries are a safe, low-sugar, antioxidant-rich treat for dogs in moderation. Just keep portions modest, as they naturally contain a trace of xylitol.
Raspberries are low in sugar and calories and high in fibre, vitamin C and antioxidants, making them one of the healthier fruit treats. There is one quirky caveat: raspberries naturally contain very small amounts of xylitol — far too little to harm a dog at normal treat portions, but a reason not to let a dog binge a whole punnet. Fresh or frozen plain raspberries are best; skip anything in syrup or sweetened.
A few raspberries for a small dog, up to a small handful for a large dog, occasionally. Frozen ones are a nice summer treat. Because of the natural xylitol trace, keep it modest and do not make them an everyday all-you-can-eat snack.
Rotate with blueberries and strawberries for variety.
