Sometimes — with care
Small amounts of broccoli leaves and stalks are fine for rabbits, but it’s a gassy vegetable — too much can cause painful bloating. Introduce it slowly and sparingly.
Broccoli is safe and offers fibre and vitamins, and many rabbits enjoy the leaves and stalks especially. The catch is that broccoli (like other brassicas) can produce gas in a rabbit’s sensitive digestive system, and rabbits cannot burp or pass gas easily, so excess can lead to painful bloating and slow the gut. The florets are the gassiest part; leaves and stalks are gentler. The golden rule with rabbits is variety in small amounts, with hay always the staple.
A small floret or a few pieces of leaf/stalk once or twice a week, as part of a varied mix of greens (about one packed cup of greens per kg of rabbit per day). Introduce gradually and watch for any sign of gas or soft stools. Always alongside unlimited hay.
Lower-gas daily greens include romaine, parsley and coriander. See the full rabbit list.
